For the past 15 years, I have embraced part-time employment, a choice initially made to strike a healthier work-life balance for my family as our children were growing. My journey through various part-time arrangements—be it working school hours five days a week, three full days, four full days, or dedicating five days to specific projects—has been both diverse and rewarding. Over time, my focus has shifted slightly, now valuing the part-time model for its ability to support my mental and physical well-being.
I've observed a positive shift in workplace culture; clients and colleagues have become increasingly supportive and respectful of my non-working days, a marked change from when I first ventured into part-time work. The freedom to tailor my hours to best suit both my needs and those of EY has been invaluable. Based on my experience, I wholeheartedly endorse part-time work as an option worth considering for anyone seeking greater flexibility and balance in their professional and personal lives.
