Sam Elder
I've worked 4 days a week for most of the last 14-years, in senior roles across several orgs. This started because I wanted to study for an MSc, and couldn't do that while working full time with a young family.
I stayed part time once I'd finished the masters, as I found 3d weekends infinitely better than 2d. It also meant I was able to hang out with the kids, do the school runs occasionally, get to sports days, etc.
To make this work, I've always been happy to flex the day of the week if needed / if something came up at work; and always been clear I'm available on the phone. Flexibility works both ways, and mutual trust is the key.
Part time work can be a huge win-win: better for the employee (wellbeing, family, other interests, etc); and the employer benefits from the higher productivity that often comes with p/t working. Look forward to the day when everyone has access to these benefits.
